No. 58: He Still Moves Stones

Writer's picture: The Well Community ChurchThe Well Community Church
“There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.” Matthew 28:2

We have heard the phrase before and honestly a good many songs have been written on this subject. God is always moving stones in our lives. Many times, we don’t see it because we are not in tune with him and his purpose.

Prayer is one of the best ways to engage in that type of sensitivity with the Holy Spirit. Prayer is not always for asking. In many cases that should be the last thing we do. We pray to get to know God and know the things that are important to him. That allows us to be in tune with what he wants for our lives and those around us. When we take the time to talk to him and thank him for all he is done and about to do, we will begin to see those stones start to move around us. That can only build our confidence in the power of prayer and our belief that he is always present.

It’s hard to recognize someone if we don’t know them. So, if we are not investing in our relationship with him, how can we expect to see all that he is doing around us.

Lord, help us to be mindful when we pray, to praise you, to petition on the behalf of others and those things that are in line with your promises. May we be humble to ask that all things be done according to your will that you may receive the glory.

See you soon,

Pastor Doug
